The Rural Compass

Samantha Meurant is the founder and owner of The Rural Compass podcast she is also is a professional artist who teaches social painting classes across western QLD.

Samantha is a city, turned country girl now living in the small town of Cunnamulla in south-west QLD. After starting and running her own art and art tutor business, she saw a gap when it came to bringing awareness to rural women entrepreneurs and small business. This sparked the idea for The Rural Compass podcast. With no former experience in the media or production realm, Samantha took a leap to start the podcast. Setting herself a 4 week goal to launch the podcast, she produces, hosts and edits each episode.

There is an abundance of talented and innovative women across Australia in our rural and remote areas and the podcast aims to point people in their direction. This is done through weekly interviews, where these incredible women have the chance to share their businesses and their stories. The podcast started with the intention of bringing awareness to these women but has also formed a following and community of women looking for their own inspiration for their business or those wanting to start a business in a rural area.

Since launching the podcast on May 1st 2019, Samantha has been nominated for RRR Storyteller of the year 2019, is a media stringer for Rural Room, been featured on platforms including The Farm Table website and Flying Solo. As well as being asked to speak at various engagements in Western QLD.
