Nexgen Plants gets USDA OK
Posted 5 years ago
Congratulations to Australian biotech startup Nexgen Plants on receiving confirmation from the US Department of Agriculture that its virus-resistant tomatoes are not regulated.
This acknowledgement that Nexgen only uses the native DNA of the plant and doesn’t insert any foreign DNA, is a significant achievement and opens up more market opportunities for the company.
Nexgen’s technologies are helping agriculture-dependent communities around the world to improve yields and respond rapidly to viral outbreaks.
Impact Innovation’s Managing Director, Brian Ruddle, has been working with Nexgen Plants from its early days as a spinout from The University of Queensland. He continues to contribute to the company’s success as a board director.
