Healthy dose of support for new medical app

Posted 6 years ago

Helping people take their medication and use medical devices safely is the aim of MedAugment, a new interactive smartphone app currently in development (video link further on).

Impact Innovation congratulates the MedAugment founders on winning a $10,000 services prize in this year’s $250,000 QUT Innovation Challenge.

The prize gives MedAugment access to Impact Innovation’s expert mentors, to continue commercialising the app, which is focusing initially on asthma and diabetes.

MedAugment co-founder Dr Alireza Ahmadvand said the prize will provide support and advice to grow MedAugment into an integral part of the healthcare system.

“The ultimate joy would be to see people are effectively using our solution, MedAugment, to improve their health condition,” he said.

This is the second year Impact Innovation has sponsored the Innovation Challenge, run by QUT’s innovation and knowledge transfer company, qutbluebox.

The Challenge is open to all QUT alumni, students and staff with an entrepreneurial vision. It offers finalists the chance to secure seed funding, gain publicity and potentially work with qutbluebox and sponsors to progress their innovation.

Last year’s winner of the Impact Innovation prize, Machinam, is commercialising a program that makes high school maths classes engaging and relevant to real life.
